SPRING FLING VOLLEYBALL RULES 2007

1. There will be separate men's and women's teams, consisting of not more than eight (8) players per team with a maximum of four (4) players on the floor at any one time. Play will be allowed with three (3) players on a team, but not two. No player will be allowed to be on more than one (1) roster or in more than one (1) league.
2. Each team's captain will confer before each match to cover any potential problems and toss coin for match serve. Teams shall officiate their own matches. Major disputes are to be settled between team captains only.
3. Each team will bring a volleyball to the match, which conforms to the standards set forth in the USVBA Rule Book. If a team requests to use their ball for a match, the other team has the option of the use of their ball for the next match.
4. All
USA Volleyball rules (http://www.usavolleyball.org/RulesOfficials/indoor.asp) will apply except:

Matches will play the best 3 out of 5 games to 21 points, winning by 2, with a cap of 25. Thus, a team could win 25-24.
The 5th and deciding game (if necessary) will be played to 15 with a cap of 17. Thus, a team could win 17-16.
No 10-foot spike line will be used.

5. No double hits will be allowed.
6. During play or service, nets, side-walls, ceiling and all basketball backboards will be OUT OF BOUNDS except:
        Ceiling rule - if ball touches ceiling on first two (2) hits on your side it is playable. If it hits on the third hit or anytime going over net, it is out.
7. All players must be 16 years of age or older.
8. No unattended children in gyms or halls. There must be a non-playing adult supervising children. Teams that have a problem controlling their children will forfeit their next match.
9. No food or drink of any type allowed in the gym. Teams abusing this rule will forfeit matches.
10. Absolutely no street shoes allowed on gym floors. All players must be wearing a pair of shoes upon entering the school and be carrying a clean pair of non-marking shoes. The gym supervisor must see you carrying your clean shoes and wearing street shoes before allowing you into the gym. Footwear must be changed at the facility. Do not wear court shoes from home.
12. Rules about shoes and food apply to spectators as well as players. Spectators wearing street shoes must stay on the sidelines.
13. No one who is, or will be, five (5) or more months pregnant within the duration of this program may participate for safety reasons.
14. Matches must be played at the times and gyms scheduled. Teams unable to play as scheduled will forfeit that match.
15. The Recreation Department and affected team captains will arrange rescheduling of games that must be canceled due to gym conflicts.
