Matter and Mass
Matter
is probably an electromagnetic phenomena as science suspects. It manifests
itself in forms that our sensory levels can detect, which seem, to us, as hard core
physical in nature; as solid, liquid, and gaseous. It also appears that all matter, at least, the
materials consisting of atoms, interacts with what we call gravitation phenomena.
We know that atomic matter can have particle and wave characteristics.
When matter is broken down to its micro smallest components; they cannot be
measured or observed singularly because their actions will be influenced by just
looking at them due to the pressure, when light photons impact them. To
observe, or look at anything; requires light to reflect off that something, back to us to
detect with our eyes or instruments. All
matter has mass. We have at rest mass and directional mass.
(At rest mass is a pseudo mass... since everything is in motion.)
At rest mass is the resistance to pressure brought to bear upon a body of matter
when it is more or less idle in a local frame of reference. Directional
mass is when we
accelerate matter in a single direction; it's resistance to motion, or change of
state in this singular direction increases, more than its At Rest mass. What that means: is it is
harder to stop the hammer swinging towards a nail, than it is to push it from
the side, when it is swinging. This directional mass is also noticed, of
particles in a partial vacuum. There is a resistance to motion at
extremely high velocities of particles moving in a vacuum Space. This is
detected by how much work must be required to pressure and accelerate these
particles to these extreme rates. The increase in directional mass through
Space is calculated using the Lorentz formula for this purpose.
Force and Pressure
I broke
force into two parts... to wit... A named Force Cause, and the
Action of the
Force. The wind blowing into a sail to propel a sailboat often would be
called the Force of the Wind. When actually, it is matter in motion exerting
pressure against the sail, which also consists of other matter. The matter in motion, is air
which is atoms of nitrogen, oxygen and etc. There is matter in motion, or
in changing of state, and we have given many a name for a force. In this
case the Force Name is wind... and matter in Force Actions, impacting the sail,
are pressure.
There
are a multitude of classical and quantum mechanical recognized Force Causes,
but, they are all only one Force Action, as pressure being brought to bear. There
is
other named phenomena, and possibly force causes, in nature that exhibit unexplained
actions. Such as gravitation. It has been over 300 years since
Newton, and we still don't have a clue...!
I
have gone out on a limb, and have postulated that all actions of any Forces are
actions of pressure.
And,
important to remember, all measuring in nature seems limited to be, only measures of
pressure.
If some action is observed, and cannot be explained, then any name given to this
observance is just a name.
Energy
Sorting
Energy as a Fantasy herein was a good thing for me. This way I could
relate the predominate basic definition. Energy being just a measurement
of ability to do work, and measured after the work is completed is pretty
straight forward. I portrayed
energy not as a thing, since it is a measure of ability to do what we call work.
I also gave an in-depth general description of what and how matter gets an
increase in ability to do work. The increased ability in a body of matter,
to do work, is an increase in atomic activity. This increase in atomic
activity is brought on by the actions of pressure forces, from some named force
cause.
Light
It is
known that all light photons exert pressure upon impact, whether it is thought
of as wave, or particle theory. This means to me that light in directional
motion, has mass, which is resistance to change of state. In other words it
takes some amount of resistance, or work, to stop an incoming photon of light. I put forth the idea that there might be idle photons essentially of no mass,
especially within the inner Space volume within atoms. I like this better
than saying photons are created from Space as virtual photons. The photon
is called a quanta... and this, for me, allows the possibility there
might be corpuscles of light smaller than our photon size, but we cannot measure
them, or detect them. Light is also a electromagnetic phenomena, but I
keep it separate from matter... mostly just due to its form, and attribute
differences from matter. When light is mentioned, it is most often thought
of as visible light our eyes detect. Let us not forget, however, it is much more...
X-ray, infrared (heat), ultraviolet, gamma rays, cosmic rays, radio waves and etc.
Light is pervasive throughout Space__ and it may even be the ether of Space.
Acceleration
Remember: Acceleration has an exact definition in Mathematics, and Physics! It describes
the motion of a body as it is increasing in speed, and or decreasing in speed
while continuing in a straight line. Important to remember is... if a
body is traveling in other than a straight line, as a curve, it
is always accelerating; no matter what its rate of speed. This is
due to the fact that it is always changing its straight line motion forward,
instantly to new straight line directions requiring continued force actions to
do so. (Deceleration is minus acceleration.) All acceleration is due
to a differential of pressure. If the differential of pressure stops, the
acceleration will stop. However there can be pressure without
acceleration. This condition is then pressure in a null condition.
Such as a clamp holding a block of wood.
Change of State, Motion
I have
no doubt that all matter in the Universe is in motion. And, since
gravitation is also all pervasive, I feel confident that all motion of matter is
in curvature. This also goes with my thinking about atoms and such... and
true mathematics writes there is no perfect straight line, or perfect circle,
for that matter. Thus__ in the extreme technical sense...
all matter is in
a constant change of state, and is being accelerated continually.
Orbiting
It is a
pretty well accepted notion that if there were not some phenomena, like we call
gravitation__ the Earth would not continue in orbit... and would take off into
Space. And, all orbiting heavenly bodies in Space would do likewise.
I portrayed how the Earth comes around the Sun and then passes it by going out
ahead of the Sun. It doesn't seem to matter if the Sun radiates
gravitation at the speed of light, the gravitation is still arriving too
late as the Earth is moving forward, and would be getting weaker per unit area,
meaning a less and less affect on the Earth. And, we haven't shown
anything yet to go faster that light. Plus even if the radiation was
faster than light speed, it would, in addition, require an increased strength,
over distance, to rein in the Earth headed in a line for outer Space.
Gravitation and Space
My
most recent notion that I herein conclude__ is: Gravitation and Space can be
considered one and the same.
I took
a hard look at gravitation using my own requirements. Something has
to be a named as the force cause. And, something has to be
the force action. I think almost all forces in nature that we have
named; are shown to represent known entities of our natural Universe.
Bodies falling, bodies pressed to earth, and bodies coming together have been
attributed to gravitation. But what is "it". What is gravitation?
Well I asked myself the same two questions of Space. And, the answers were
the same... I don't know. But, I wondered!
If
inner Space within the confines of an atom moves with the atom, and this inner
Space is electromagnetic in some form, maybe when something pressures matter...
it is not putting pressure on the atom as a particle, but is indirectly
pressuring the inner Space; and this inner Space reacts with its associated
atom. I have toyed with this notion for quite
awhile, in the sense of fields interacting with fields. I however, think
of fields as only measured values, or conditions... not as entities. Well, I got
thinking again about Space moving along with our Solar System, as sort of a
Space envelope, or bubble. This could mean that this bubble could be
conditioned, warped, distorted or distressed__ and holds this condition of
distortion, as our Solar system travels through Space. This would mean
that an orbiting planet has a stable condition that would be actions forcing,
pressuring inward all the while it orbits. An analogy might be as the
vortex described in Edgar Allan Poe's... A Descent Into The Maelstrom.
There is possibly some form of displacement of Space itself. If a ball was
inserted into a blob of gelatin in Space... I think it would displace, expand,
or push... the gelatin outward as the natural geometrical ratio of area
spread of 1 to 4 with distance doubled. The pressure on the ball's surface would
be more per unit area, than the surface of an imaginary sphere; at double
the distance out in the gelatin. This would mean galaxies, solar systems,
and bodies of matter are all pressed into place, and all have Space bubbles...
If we move in a Space envelope, frame of reference, it also explains why the
Michelson Morley experiment didn't show any differences due to the Earth's
motion through Space. If the Space of the Universe is large enough, even
though it might not have containment walls__ we are so insignificantly small,
that our region of Space will seem without change for millions of years.
But, I have read where the Universe is expanding at a faster rate than what was
first thought, and is accelerating...! Thus what force causes a force
action of gravitational pressure, is Space. ...I guess we could call it
Space-gravity.
Does
Space-gravity exert pressure upon us? I mentioned before the reason we do
not feel the pressure of gravitation is because it is pressing on every tiny
atom of our bodies almost instantly, and we would not notice, and could not
detect any single atom compared to another atom... differential of pressure. We do measure pressure
as weight quanta so to speak. We do notice that items as ropes, or long
rods horizontally suspended... sag, which is probably due to pressure.
Thus Space is the Force Cause, and Pressure is the Force Action for what we have
been calling gravitation. And outer Space pushes on inner space which
pushes on matter.

Possibility
Speculation... Thoughts from 03-31-2010
Some years ago I was looking at the antennae of an ant. (It is called
scape and funiculus officially.) This antenna is quite small to the naked eye.
Taking it further I put it under my microscope. Lo and behold it had tiny
hair on it. Here was an ant antenna smaller than a human hair, that had
yet smaller tiny hair, or what they call sensilla. Human hair varies
between 17 to 181 millionths of a meter. This sensilla has a range of
about 10 to 15 millionths of a meter. For an average mean sized hair the
diameter would be about one million carbon atoms in a row. Doing some
crude calculations... I found that a spherical tiny ball with the diameter of an
ant hair has a volume that could contain about 14 quadrillion carbon atoms...
(14,000,000,000,000,000) That is a bunch of atoms for a ball with a
diameter, maybe ten times, or more, smaller than a pencil line!
Obviously atoms are small, but as you know, they have even yet smaller parts as
protons, neutrons, and electrons. And, science theorizes and speculates
there are yet smaller particles than some of these... called Quarks.
Quarks make up some of the atomic particles of nature as a fundamental particle
along with lepton, photons, and bosons. These types of particles are
called "point-like" since we cannot measure or even estimate their physical
size. Note that photons, light quanta, are included in this group.
In the nuclear reactions of fission, and fusion matter is converted to light
photon particles that have Directional Mass. (They exhibit resistance to
change of state... in the direction they are moving.) I assume that
leptons, bosons, and quarks do the same. They have directional mass.
For larger bodies of matter, we say they have At Rest mass. However, we
know that nothing is ever exactly at rest. And, if given some
thought, we know there is a lot of tiny motions going on within all matter from
molecules of atoms, on down to the smallest particles. All this atomic and
sub-atomic motion within matter results in a myriad of motions heading every
direction at any one instant. At that instant, each and every one of this
multitude of tiny particles is headed in a single direction, thus having
Directional Mass in that instant. How all these tiny instantaneous
movements equate, or act as At Rest mass, I will speculate on later.
The
point to be made here: Directional Mass... resistance to change of state,
motion only in the direction of motion... may be the only mass! There is a
good possibility that there is no such thing as a body of mass having a true At Rest
mass.
Bodies of matter do exhibit an apparent pseudo At Rest mass. These values
of mass are variable depending upon the differing types of matter. These
differences can be thought of as due to differing types of atoms, configurations
of atoms etc. But, with all the differences; when the tiny atomic and
sub-atomic particles are thought of being in motion, and at any instant having
properties of only Directional Mass... it seems to make sense.

Possibility
Speculation... Thoughts from 03-31-2010
Already mentioned in these writings I have alluded to the
possibility of electrons moving in orbital motions following a toroidal or torus
configuration. As such, the electron would not only be following an
orbital oval, but it would be rotating perpendicular to the orbit path matching
its spin attribute. These motions would match and conform to keeping a
balance on either side of a center mean orbit line... that also keeps a balance
to allow a resonant frequency. This orbiting would also exhibit a
centrifugal effect, as a gyro. A gyro can be moved in three dimensions, as
X, Y, & Z. However, a spinning gyro will exhibit a surprising resistance
to change of state if it is twisted against it axis of spin. A whole loose
volume of spinning gyro mechanisms would probably not give us the conditions
matching any At Rest mass, but if the axis' of the gyro were linked, they might.
If several gyroscopes have their axis' shafts hooked together end to end hanging
down__ and if pressure is applied to one section of this hanging gyro chain__
from any direction, except directly in line with the axis__ it will exhibit
resistance. And, taking this further by having chains of gyros at their
axis' all linked together in all sorts of direction__ the whole total group
would then exhibit resistance to change of state from any direction.
This would probably be a good experiment to conduct within one of our orbiting
space crafts?! The point here is that we might have created an actual
thing in nature that exhibits the properties of At Rest mass of bodies of
matter. Thus this would work ok for the adage; "if not observed in
nature, it is probably not correct."

Possibility
Speculation... Thoughts from 03-31-2010
Matter is converted to Light in a nuclear reaction. Jillions of photons
are radiated, pressured outward... in all directions__ each and all having
Directional Mass. If the conversion is 100% complete there would be no
matter remaining from the initial ingredients put into the reaction. What
happened to the matter? Well things get pretty hot... and thus could have
just consumed the matter__ and this may have activated the radiation of light
photons in space in and about the reaction. But, I did have this wild
thought... What if Quarks and Photons are the same thing? Could, or
would a nuclear reaction just break down all the particulates of matter into
their lowest form; and set them into single free directional motions scattered
and radiating from a source outbound in
every direction? Quarks, and photons, both have directional mass. Could it
be that the vacant space within the atom is filled with mass-less idle quarks?
Could it be that light photons are actually quarks focused, activated, and or
radiated acting as light? Could mass-less quarks be the ether of space?
Maybe creation of a virtual particle from space is a scenario of
activating idle quarks into the conditions, attributes, or properties of
matter?!

The State of
Measurement...
Thoughts from
circa 4-4-2011
Measurement and
Mathematics probably had close beginnings and still have a unified
relationship. A long time ago someone realized the relationship of one finger
can represent one egg, one man, and or one deer. Then using more fingers man
could represent more than one item. This representation of his fingers for
other items is a comparison. Then came counting, and adding; until finally
calculus. Along with mathematics came comparisons of how large is an item or
group. How many steps away is the group, and etc. Thus measuring man's paces
to some distance away came to be. A man could hold up three fingers, and wave
to pass information to another man that was watching. About this time grunt
noises started to convey information to others; that were heard, thus
information was passed by sound. And, finally maybe some taps on the shoulder
would be used. Thus physical touch conveyed information. These are obviously
three of our senses that allow us to gain information to feed our brain. These
three senses are still the same ones scientists use today. Taste and smell are
the other two which I will address further on.
Even though we
may have become sophisticated, and man can build highly complicated machines...
any end results have to be entered into the mind of a scientist, with the same
crude old means of: sight, hearing, and or touch. These three senses all do
work, to feed input to our brain, that is classical physical pressure. Light
entering our eyes comes as photons of light pressure. Hearing is from the
vibration waves pressing more and less into our ears. And touch is just
mechanical physical pressure.
Smell is usually tiny particulate that enters our nose by pressures involved
with breathing. It isn't exactly clear what happens when the particulates
interact inside the nose, but it took pressure to get it there.
I really do not know what happens when we taste something. I know there are
some basic tastes, as sour, salty, sweet, and etc... But, I would have to guess
chemical reactions within the mouth give us taste. Chemical reactions radiate
heat, which is light radiated as photons having pressure in the direction they
are going. There may also be electrical phenomena, but I will bet it has
pressure involved also. In any case it took pressure to get food and drink to
the mouth. Even if you catch pop-corn thrown in the air... it is coming down
with a small amount of gravitational pressure. You hold your food with your
hand or fork, which require pressure to do so. You lift a glass of juice by
holding a glass with pressure. And, if you aren't doing this... something, or
somebody else is...
When we measure matter of the universe, we use directly our senses; or
indirectly tools and utensils, and or machinery or mechanisms. The end result
has to be conveyed to our brain, and that gets back to pressure at the
elementary level. Most all mechanized instruments use sensing devices that are
sensitive to pressure. If an instrument senses light or heat... it is sensing
photons coming at it bearing directional pressure. If a scale senses weight, it
uses a simple balance which is an up and down pressure device, a spring device
is used in some scales, and sometimes pressure sensitive cells. These cells can be
such as carbon granules that change resistance when packed together, or maybe
rock crystal that have a piezoelectric output when stressed by pressure. The
bottom line is: even if information comes from a particle accelerator, or an
electron microscope... the results need to be relayed to mankind. This may come
as paper printouts, photos, or gauges we observe, and all work via light
pressure coming into our eyes... Someone may even relate the results
verbally... thus using sound pressure. And so it goes... we cannot get any
measurement information without pressure. Likewise, it is highly unlikely any
measurement can be taken without bringing pressure to bear.
Mass is a measurement of the return pressure that is measured whenever pressure
is brought to bear upon a body of matter. This return pressure is called
inertia. If every thing in the universe stopped moving there would be no
measurements, and even no way to know if anything exists.
Finally, a pull, is just a push of pressure while in contact, with the far side,
pressuring something towards you. The leverage comes from in front. Any pull
must have pressure brought to bear, or it cannot be accomplished. And a pull is
always measured and calculate as pressure. Even if there is a vacuum gage
used... the dial may read a vacuum, but the insides of the gage works by more or
less pressure.
This last one is for you. If there truly is such things as magnetic, or
gravitational attraction... how do you measure it? I sure hope you don't think
there is some minus zero pressure gauge!
