Stromberg-Carlson

This fine old gentleman is the Stromberg-Carlson 410H tabletop radio from the late 1930's that I picked up from a little second hand store. This particular radio covers the standard AM broadcast band (with POLICE marked on the high end of the dial) and the 6 to 18 Mc shortwave bands (49 thru 16 Meters). Although it worked "off the shelf" a radio this old needed just a little bit of tinkering to bring out it's full potential. This is the radio I keep on my nightstand for late night listening. Sometimes I just turn it on for the warm glow of the tubes and the little #47 pilot lamp. If I had found this radio, a year earlier, I never would have plunked down the money for that new Grundig.
